English Yew (Taxus baccata 'Standishii') is a dense, upright evergreen tree with a dense, pyramidal shape. Its dark green glossy leaves are small, sharply pointed at the tips and edged with a cream colored line. Its bark is light to medium brown with shallow fissures. The English yew has a slow growth habit and can reach heights of up to 35 feet. Small yellowish-red berries, which ripen in autumn, are an attractive feature of the English yew and provide food for wildlife. While it does best in full sun, the English Yew is able to tolerate partial shade and can thrive in a variety of soil types.
