Terms of Service

Effective date: 26th August 2026 Version: 2026-08-01

These terms are between you and GrowMuir Limited ("GrowMuir", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17384929). You can contact us at hello@growmuir.com.

By creating an account or using GrowMuir, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What GrowMuir is

GrowMuir is a gardening service. It helps you identify plants, record the gardens you look after, and receive care suggestions based on your location, your soil and the weather. Some features use artificial intelligence. Some show prices from third-party retailers. Section 8 explains the limits of all of this, and it matters — please read it.

GrowMuir is intended for personal, non-commercial use by people aged 16 or over. If you are under 16, please do not create an account.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@growmuir.com if you believe someone else has access to it.

The information you give us should be accurate. Much of what GrowMuir tells you is derived from your address, your garden's position and its soil — inaccurate details produce inaccurate advice.

You may close your account at any time from your account settings.

3. Plans

GrowMuir offers a Free plan and paid memberships. The plans, what each includes, and their current prices are shown at growmuir.com/pricing, which forms part of these terms.

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable.

4. Paying for a membership

When you are charged. Payment is taken when you subscribe, and then at the start of each renewal period, using the payment method you provide. Payments are handled by Stripe; we do not receive or store your card details.

Monthly memberships renew every month at the price shown when you subscribed.

Annual memberships work as follows, and we want to be exact about it because the first term is longer than the ones after it:

  • You are charged the full annual price when you subscribe — twelve months' payment.
  • Your first term runs for fourteen months: the twelve you have paid for, plus two months free.
  • After that, it renews every twelve months at the annual price. The two free months apply to the first term only and do not repeat at renewal.

Renewals are automatic. Your membership continues, and payment is taken, until you cancel. We will remind you before an annual renewal.

If a payment fails, we will retry it and may email you. If it cannot be collected, your membership may be suspended or cancelled and your account will return to the Free plan.

5. Cancelling, and your right to change your mind

You may cancel at any time from your account, which takes you to Stripe's billing portal. Cancelling stops future renewals. Your membership continues until the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not pro-rate or refund the remainder of a paid period.

Your 14-day right to cancel. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you would normally have 14 days from subscribing to cancel and receive a refund.

Because GrowMuir is a digital service that begins working the moment you subscribe, we ask you to agree at checkout that your membership starts immediately. When you give that agreement, you acknowledge that you lose the 14-day right to cancel for a refund once the membership has started. We record that agreement against your account.

This does not affect your other legal rights, including your right to a remedy if the service is faulty or not as described.

If we get it wrong, tell us at hello@growmuir.com. We would rather sort it out than stand on the paragraph above.

6. Changing your plan

You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and Stripe adjusts the amount charged for the remainder of your period. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current paid period, so you keep what you have paid for.

7. If our prices change

We may change our prices. If we do:

  • Existing members keep the price they subscribed at until their next renewal. An annual member therefore keeps their price for the remainder of their term.
  • We will tell you before a changed price applies to you, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

8. Advice, AI and accuracy — please read this one

GrowMuir gives gardening suggestions. It is not professional horticultural, agricultural, veterinary, medical or safety advice, and you should not treat it as such.

Specifically:

  • Plant identification can be wrong. It is produced by automated image recognition and is a best guess, not a determination.
  • AI-generated content can be wrong. Some answers, care notes and suggestions are generated by AI systems and may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
  • Never rely on GrowMuir to decide whether a plant is safe. Do not eat, taste, handle, medicate with or give to a child or animal any plant on the strength of what GrowMuir tells you. Check an authoritative source, and if in doubt do not.
  • Weather, soil and mapping data come from third parties and are estimates for your area rather than measurements of your garden.
  • Follow the instructions on any product you buy, including composts, feeds and pesticides. Those instructions take precedence over anything GrowMuir says.

You remain responsible for what you do in your garden.

9. Prices and links to retailers

Where GrowMuir shows prices from retailers, those prices come from the retailer and may be out of date, incomplete or wrong. Always check the price and the details on the retailer's own site before buying. We are not a party to any purchase you make from a retailer.

Some retailer links are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy. This never changes the price you pay, and we do not accept payment for placing a product higher in a comparison.

10. Garden centres

GrowMuir lists garden centres, some of which are commercial partners. A partner listing means a commercial relationship exists between us and that garden centre. It does not mean we endorse them, and the suitability checks GrowMuir performs are not influenced by whether a garden centre pays us.

11. Intellectual property

Ours. GrowMuir, its name and logo, the software, the design of the site, and the text and images we publish are owned by us or licensed to us. The catalogue, comparisons and guides are a compilation we have built, and the database right in that compilation is ours — even where individual facts within it come from the third-party sources named in our Privacy Policy, which remain the property of their owners.

You may use GrowMuir for your own gardening. You may not copy, extract, republish, resell or systematically download any substantial part of it, use it to build a competing product or dataset, or remove any notice of ownership.

Yours. You keep ownership of the photographs, notes and garden information you add. You grant us the licence we need to run the service for you: to store your content, show it back to you, and process it — including sending photographs to the plant-identification and AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy — so that the features you have asked for can work. This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account, except where we must keep a copy by law.

Do not upload content you do not have the right to upload, or content that is unlawful or infringes someone else's rights.

What GrowMuir produces for you. Care plans, task lists, suggestions and answers generated for your garden are yours to use for your own gardening, and we make no claim over what you do in your garden as a result. That is not a transfer of ownership in the underlying models or content, and it does not permit you to republish generated output as a dataset or a competing guide.

12. Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, other accounts, or our systems;
  • scrape, bulk-download or resell our content or data;
  • use the service to break the law, or to harass anyone;
  • misrepresent yourself as someone else, or as a garden centre you do not represent;
  • interfere with the service's operation or security.

We may suspend or close an account that does these things.

13. Availability and changes

We aim to keep GrowMuir available and working, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove features. If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid plan provides, we will tell you and you may cancel and receive a refund of the unused portion of your current paid period.

We may need to suspend the service for maintenance, and we will try to give notice where we can.

14. Ending these terms

You may stop using GrowMuir and close your account at any time.

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we close your account other than because of something you have done, we will refund the unused portion of any period you have paid for.

15. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by these terms.

Subject to that: we are not liable for loss that was not foreseeable, for loss arising from your use of the service for business purposes, or for loss of plants, crops or garden works arising from advice that turned out to be wrong — please see section 8.

Where we are liable, our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and £50.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will give you reasonable notice by email or in the app before it takes effect. The version and effective date are shown at the top of this page, and we record which version you accepted.

Continuing to use GrowMuir after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, you may cancel.

17. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your own courts.

If something has gone wrong, please contact us first at hello@growmuir.com — most things are quicker to fix that way.
