How many plants does GrowMuir know?

Accepted Answer

Over 10,000 species, and growing — almost all with a photo, and most with a description, light and water needs. That covers what you already have in your garden or spot in a centre, not just the plants sold through Compare Prices.

When does my annual plan's free two months apply?

Accepted Answer

Only to your first term. You're charged for 12 months' subscription but get 14 months' access — the extra two months are a joining benefit. When it renews, it renews at the normal 12-month term, at the normal price.

Question 5

How do I pause or delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Go to your account settings. Pausing keeps your data for 180 days so you can come back — reactivating restores everything exactly as you left it. Deleting is immediate and permanent: it erases your account and everything in it, and you'll need to type your email address to confirm, because there's no undo.

Do I need an account to use GrowMuir?

Accepted Answer

No. You can ask Muir anything about your garden, look up any plant, and find your nearest garden centre without one. A free account adds saving your searches, tracking prices, and saving a garden so advice can be specific to it.

How many questions can I ask Muir for free?

Accepted Answer

A limited number each day, free and with no account needed. See the Plans page for the current allowance. For advice tied to your own garden — its soil, aspect and the weather where it is — you'll need a free account and a saved garden.

Is identifying a plant from a photo free?

Accepted Answer

Yes — plant ID from a photo is free on every plan. In a GrowMuir partner garden centre, scanning a plant with your camera to check it against your own saved garden is free too; outside a partner centre, that specific check is part of the Grow plan.

Question 9

Does GrowMuir recommend plants for my garden, or only check ones I already have in mind?

Both. Point it at a specific plant and it'll tell you whether that one suits your garden. On Cultivate, it can also suggest what to plant in a bed or border based on your own soil, light and the season.

Who is responsible for my data?

What happens to my data if I pause my account?

Accepted Answer

It's kept for 180 days in case you come back — reactivate any time in that window and everything is exactly as you left it. After 180 days, a paused account is deleted permanently.

Is Muir's advice always right?

Accepted Answer

Muir is AI, and AI can be wrong or out of date — treat it as a knowledgeable starting point, not professional advice. Never rely on it alone to decide whether a plant is safe to eat, handle, or give to a child or pet; check an authoritative source if you're not sure.

Can I cancel, and will I get a refund?

You can cancel any time from your account to stop future renewals. Cancelling takes effect at the end of your current billing period rather than immediately, so you keep what you've already paid for. Because membership starts working the moment you pay, you're asked to confirm that before checkout — which means giving up the usual 14-day cooling-off right to a refund on that term. You can still cancel any time to stop it renewing again.

What's the difference between Free, Grow and Cultivate?

Free covers plant lookup, limited daily access to Muir, finding garden centres, and a saved garden with a few plants. Grow adds more gardens, weather-aware care for everything you grow, and the AskMuir Garden Centre Companion. Cultivate adds extended weather data and soil-, light- and season-aware planting suggestions. See the Plans page for the current allowances and exact plan features.

Can GrowMuir tell me if a specific plant will grow in my garden?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Save your garden — its soil, light and aspect — and GrowMuir checks any plant against it, in a shop or at home, and tells you whether it suits your spot specifically, not just what the label says on average.

What if GrowMuir doesn't recognise a plant I photograph?

Accepted Answer

You can always type the name from the label instead — search covers the full catalogue the same way. Photo ID works best with a clear, well-lit photo of a leaf or flower, and is matched using PlantNet.

Do I need to know a plant's name to use GrowMuir?

Accepted Answer

No — photograph it and AskMuir will identify it for you, or describe it in your own words and ask Muir. You don't need to already know what you're looking at.

Is comparing prices free?

Accepted Answer

It will be, and searching is already free with no account needed. We're bringing retailers onto GrowMuir now — once their feeds are live, price comparison across UK retailers opens up as part of the free plan too.

What can I actually ask Muir?

Accepted Answer

Anything gardening-related — what to plant, why a plant's struggling, what to do in your garden this month, how one plant compares to another. With a saved garden, answers are grounded in your own soil, light, aspect and local weather rather than generic advice.

Does GrowMuir work on my phone, or is there an app to download?

Accepted Answer

There's no separate app to download — GrowMuir works in any mobile browser. You can add it to your home screen for one-tap access, which is especially handy for the AskMuir Garden Centre Companion when you're stood in a shop with your phone out.

Does GrowMuir cover different pot sizes or quantities when comparing prices?

Accepted Answer

That's the plan — once Compare Prices opens, listings will be grouped by pot size, so a 3L shrub and a 10L specimen of the same plant aren't shown as if they're the same purchase. Comparison itself is opening soon; we're bringing retailers onto GrowMuir now.

Is GrowMuir independent, or do retailers pay to be ranked higher?

Independent. Compare Prices ranks strictly on price, low to high — no retailer can pay to appear higher, and we don't accept sponsored product placements.
