Growing up to 10 feet in height, its branches are covered with fragrant, bright green leaves and abundant round yellow flowers in mid to late summer. Although able to withstand drought conditions, this plant prefers a damp, sunny site with well-draining soil. Called the "pleasure" or "luxury" broom, this plant's beauty makes it a favorite in gardens, rock gardens, or as a hedge or barrier. This species generally requires little to no pruning, and it also can be used as an attractive cut flower.
