The Austrian pine (Pinus nigra) is an evergreen conifer that grows to an average height of 66-98 feet tall. Its needles are 4-7 inches long with dark green colouring on the outside, and silver-blue on the underside. Its cones are oval shaped and measure 4-6 inches long. This pine is native to southeastern Europe and is widely planted in parks and other public spaces as an ornamental. Its bark ranges from grey to black, with deep slits and thick ridges that give it a rough texture. It's strong and durable, making it an ideal species for windbreaks or for providing shade. Austrian pines are also tolerant of wind, cold, and dry conditions, making them a versatile and hardy choice for many landscapes.
